In June, 2015, American Axle/Grede Foundries (Grede LLC) contacted us to design, fabricate and deliver an automated solution that would inspect castings to ensure that they were to specifications before being delivered to customers.
We proposed the plans, collaborated with their engineers, and revised the plans to provide two stations that feature:

  • Fabricated steel tubing for frame of stations.
  • One fixture (for each station) utilizing two (2) floating “V” blocks to Carrier on the axle ends. No clamping used in hold the Carrier in place.
  • Keyence GT2 sensors used to determine a high/pass/low situation. A weld met-mounted on a four (4) post vertical slide used to bring the sensors down around the carrier. The sensors are installed on pneumatic slides to bring the sensors into contact with the Carrier. A Setmaster calibrates the sensors.
